The trick I am about to tell you only applies to a married couple and before I exclaim you it I am going to tell you a little bit about my driving record.

My diving record is not the worst, but it is not good either. I do not have any DUI’s, hit and runs, or any accidents for that matter, but I have a lot of speeding tickets. I have so many speeding tickets that I lost my license for over 4 years in total. Mind you that I am only 23. That means that I had my license suspended or revoked longer than I had it.

My wife’s record on the other hand is impeccable. She has no speeding tickets or any moving violations. Also she had been with her previous insurance for more than 5 years.

Why did I tell you all this, well it helps to set the tone for the surprising realization of how the insurance is calculated on Esurance.

Before I married my wife I had recently gotten my license back and bought myself a car. In need of insurance I decided to pick Esurance as my provider after checking others and their rates. After doing so my monthly insurance premium was $177.00 for chunky coverage on newer Ford Focus.

Once we were married I decided to add my wife to my policy and naturally it went up. We both have newer cars so at most I was thinking it would be fair under double. That would about be about $280-300 a month and yes that was the monthly total. Truth be told this was too much for us to bear.

Here is where the interesting share comes in. Because I was trying to secure my case that Esurance was cheaper than her American Family Insurance, I created an sage with just her and her car. When compared to her current monthly premium she was saving about 40 a month.

But then curiosity got the better of me. I asked myself “what would happen if she was the primary and then added my record to hers”?

There are only two possible options. Either that it would be the same as the $280-$300 amount or it would be different. And to my unjustified amazement it was different. The monthly premium came to $150 a month for the two cars with full coverage.

If you were keeping track that is less than what I paid alone for just my car.

The trick is to make sure the one with the best driving record sign up first and made to be the primary and then add on all the other drivers.

For some reason I was thinking that since we were married we would find the same insurance premium either way it was done, but from my right life case observe it is definitely not the case.

This was some years ago. One of the three doyens of our community – all WW II veterans – was finally bidding farewell to the snowy upstate New York and leaving for the sunny beaches of Florida. Those three elderly gentlemen and their spouses were everything to everyone of us in our area, irrespective of our race, religion or financial status.

As witnesses to a serene America before the wars and the baby-boomer era, they obsessively believed each American was entitled to the same peaceful lives of their youth. Those three elders were almost like mayors of a two-block community that spanned either side of a two-mile street. Not even a cat could bolt without their knowledge. Needless to say, youngsters felt suffocated by the overbearing presence and anguish of the three seniors.

Now, one of those guardian angels was leaving. I too helped the couple pack their belongings before the keen truck came. Their basement was full of antiques and collectibles. One of the framed old prints was intelligent. It showed a physician getting out of a horse buggy with his medicine chest and an anxious family waiting for him at the door of a home.

Though in black and white, the characterize vividly portrayed the mixed feelings of the subjects – the comforting, assuring demeanor of the doctor, the anxiety-turning-to-relief faces of the family. One of the ladies in the picture was half-turned toward the interior of the house shouting something. I believe it should be “The Doc has approach. The Doc is here.”

Then that was the stature of a physician in our society in the past. A confidante and insider of every American family. And our forefathers knew the docs had to keep up a higher status in the society and made it a point to pay them nicely. Those who couldn’t pay in cash, made it up in kind. The physicians, on their portion, had no room for complaints about their reasonable remuneration.

No, I m not saying our present day docs should travel in horse buggies. I am talking about a bygone era where doctor-patient relationship was above the mundane levels of payment worries or malpractice suits.

Then, who broke up that beautiful relationship?

Sorry to say, doctors themselves started the vicious cycle. Not all of them, but a few of them.

Those were the days when insurance companies, on the lookout for greener pastures, unfortunately decided health industry was inviting enough to be grazed.

That depart was against all principles of actuarial science. Insurance is provided against infrequent emergencies in our lives – be it home, car, accident or death. Not against frequent incidents like illness or sickness.

What sustains the insurance industry is the “infrequency” of covered conditions and situations because they are not allowed to invest their funds in risky, high-profit ventures.

Still over-smart insurance mavens started covering illnesses, conveniently ignoring the cardinal principles of actuarial science.

Insurance agents, under pressure to meet deadlines and targets, viewed health insurance and professionals on a par with the automobile insurance and auto mechanics respectively.

Soon a felonious nexus sprang up. A small coterie of medics and agents colluded in jacking up health insurance claims to ridiculous levels. Though only a handful of the professionals of that era were in this racket, that was enough to begin a vicious cascade that finally mothballed into the present unmanageable mess.

As the racketeers and their families started flying Cessnas and Beechcrafts (some parked on airstrips hundreds of miles away from their homes), some jealous lawyers jumped into the fray with malpractice suits even if God created one member of your paired organs shorter than the other.

Medium- and small-sized insurance companies started folding up due to mounting losses from unscrupulous claims.

Finally, a handful of major players were left in the health insurance arena. Cheated by their contain agents and by accredited professionals, they banded together to stomp out the mischief.

Thus were born today’s confusing jumble of managed care: HPOs, PPOs, IPAs and all that jazz- all hooplas aimed at meeting less and less of the insurance industry’s commitments to the society and to shortchange it.

Doctors, due to the dishonesty of a handful of their predecessors, thus lost control of their hospitals and their preeminent position in the society. Insurance companies and law firms started “lording” it over them – including diagnosis, therapy and prognosis.

Now a new group also entered the fray. The medical equipment manufacturers! In a run to recoup their R&D expenses within the first few months of sales, they started charging exorbitant prices to the hospitals. Their excuse is,”Why you bother, insurance will pay.” But insurance doesn’t pay tubby or pays nothing at all.

Today’s young physicians may not enjoy that this quagmire was started by a few, unethical predecessors. The situation has worsened to such levels that soon a person with a high school diploma and a two-year certificate will be prescribing medicines and doing surgeries, so that insurance industry can save money.

Lazy insurance company staff found a new way to flog an already tired health industry. They didn’t want to do the verification of the bills even when provided with fast computers; so, they created original categories of jobs for a circuitous way of verification – coding. I have no objection to the job of coders. The more our people have jobs, the better for the society.

But after passing the buck to the health care industry, if insurance is not paying the hospitals to acquire those jobs, the hospital system has no choice but to cave in under the weight of a disproportionately- bloated administrative portion with the actual patient care section becoming leaner and leaner.

Self-serving ineptitude on the part of the insurance industry has rocketed premiums to astronomical levels that businesses can no more afford even group insurances for their employees.

Some health care bosses appoint sycophantic cronies to top posts ignoring the claims of hardworking personnel who have been serving the hospitals for decades.

Recently I heard a middle-level departmental head in one hospital lamenting the departure of a long-serving technician elsewhere. The tech quit after being ignored for promotion the sixth time. That guy seemed to be the only one (out of some twenty around) who could be depended on even in the tedious of the night to repair one of their vital systems. The only one to do it fair!

Silent hardworking staff get ignored, while vociferous lazy bums get promoted.

Some state-funded hospitals in New York City have already closed. Luckily, some hospitals in the suburbs have some funds left from grants bestowed by rich philanthropists. How long will that last? God alone knows.

I was elated when I heard on TV that some physicians in New Jersey and Kentucky are trying the obsolete system of house visits bypassing the insurance system.

No, not on horse buggies.

A good beginning!

Anything to get rid of the middle men and to bring health care back to affordable levels is better than the present day denial of basic rights despite all the technological advances.

Choosing the right auto insurance for your family can be confusing. How do you find the best auto insurance for your family’s unique situation? Which companies should you look at? What if you have a teen driver? How distinguished coverage should you carry? Save time and money by following these simple tips and get the best auto insurance for your family.

Comparison Shopping for Auto Insurance
The first step in choosing the best auto insurance for your family is to comparison shop. Before contacting any insurance companies, make a list of what your family needs in an auto insurance policy. Do you have multiple cars to insure? Do you need to insure a teen driver? If you transport your children’s friends, you might want to consider increasing the liability fraction of your car insurance. If you have a large number of assets, you may want an umbrella policy. All of your criteria will play an important role in determining your premium price and ultimately which auto insurance company is the best fit for your family. You will also need to know what coverage your state requires. Make a comparison chart of your auto insurance needs and make sure you ask the same questions to all of the auto insurance companies you contact.

Buying Auto Insurance for Teens
When it comes time to insure your teen driver, be prepared to shell out some significant bucks. Teens cost more to insure because they are inexperienced and as a group have a higher incidence of accidents. However, you usually don’t have to insure your teen until they are licensed. Unless you are in a high risk insurance pool, teens with a permit are usually covered by your auto insurance as long as they are driving with a licensed driver. Save some money and hold off on adding them to your policy while they are still learning. However, make sure you procure your teen insured as soon as they get their license. You may earn yourself paying big bucks if your uninsured teen driver needs to make a claim. Your insurance company can legally charge you back premiums.

Best Auto Insurance Companies for Families
These auto insurance companies usually can’t be beat on affordability, service and available options. However, always shop around. Your local independent agency may be willing to match or better the prices of the bigger companies in order to keep your business. But don’t make the mistake of confusing low prices with the best auto insurance company for your family. Use your comparisons of premiums, coverage and discounts to design your decision. Here are the two best companies offering auto insurance for families, and a few of the runners up.

American Family
American Family is a big company that feels intimate and personal. Most of the credit goes to the company’s superb customer service department that, along with quickly claims, do American Family one of the best companies offering auto insurance for families. The regular premium rates are very competitive even if you have a teen driver on your policy and their multiple vehicle discount, good student discount, air bag discount, accident free and good driver discounts can save your family big bucks.

American Family’s online services are convenient and easy to navigate and understand. Their online bill pay is especially quick and easy. Their family custom protection tool is an easy scheme to evaluate your own insurance needs. American Family offers families with teen drivers a program called the Teen Safe Driver Program in which a camera is mounted inside the vehicle to evaluate how safely the teen is driving. The feedback from the camera is then sent to parents.

If you choose to use an American Family agent instead of their online service, you can rest assured that you will still have immediate access to a representative in the event of an emergency. Agents are backed by a 24 hour care center and an online self-service center. The one downside of American Family is that they are not available in all states. But if you are lucky enough to be in a state they service, you can’t go wrong choosing this great auto insurance company for your family.

Liberty Mutual
Liberty Mutual certainly has stood the test of time. In business since 1912, this is a company that has a high customer satisfaction rating and is one of the best companies offering auto insurance for families. In fact, 91 percent of Liberty customers renew their auto insurance policy every year. This may be due to the company’s outstanding customer service. Or it could be that Liberty has much better rates than most of the other big companies. They offer all of the standard discounts plus discounts for teen drivers who own a B or higher grade point average and savings for members or employees of certain groups, associations, credit unions or alumni associations. The one drawback- Liberty Mutual’s RV insurance is very expensive.

Car insurance when you get older can be rather tricky. Now that you may be living on a limited income you may have to do some comparison shopping to gather the best auto insurance policies available. Here are some helpful tips on how to save money while getting the best auto insurance rates for seniors.

As a person ages they drive less so it stands to reason if you haven’t had any accidents your rates tend to lower. However, for income reasons it is still best to comparison shop for the best insurance quotes when it comes to any type of insurance, especially auto. The first thing to remember is nobody can be turned away for car insurance because of their age. However, if they let their license lapse, they may be required to take an exam before they are able to get their license renewed.

It is important to gather insurance quotes from several different companies before deciding on your auto insurance choice.

Taking a driving course or purchasing a car with additional safety features can save money on your insurance rates.

There are several auto insurance companies that specialize in insurance for seniors such as AARP and AAA.

Sometimes employers or church groups may offer a group insurance rate that will place money on auto insurance policies.

Sometimes local insurance agents can offer lower rates than other auto insurance companies, it is always good to look at several different avenues to find the best policy quotes.

Many seniors are driving automobiles that they have had for many years and sometimes the deductible on a certain car many cost more than the car is worth. To get the best senior rate you may need to determine a higher deductible for your automobile.

Your insurance rates are adjusted according to your zip code. If you own two homes and spend the same amount of time in each home, you will need to settle to list the car insurance in the zip code that will give you the best rate.

Most seniors never want to give up driving, however sometimes due to health reasons it may become necessary to give up driving. People sometimes continue paying for car insurance policies even after they never drive anymore due to health reasons for fear they may need to drive someday. The cost far outweighs the benefit and if you do have to drive one day, you probably wouldn’t be able to due to medical reasons, so let the insurance and car go. Use senior taxicabs, family members or friends. The money you save by no longer having a car will easily pay for your trips here and there to the store and doctor appointments.

Some good insurance companies that offer good rates to seniors are AARP, Progressive, Allstate, Farm Bureau, Geico and State Farm.

Make sure you collect all the quotes you can and tell them what you can pay, sometimes as with Progressive they can work around your priceline. Geico has a senior discount program and many other insurances do as well.

There are several cheap car insurance companies. Listed here are a few and a review of what information is contained on their websites.

Progressive has claimed to be a cheap car insurance company. They offer services such as 24/7 claim service, pet accident insurance, and someone to assist you with buying a car if yours gets totaled, and discounts for a safe driving record and having more than one car insured with them. In completing a quote, individuals are asked to provide the car that they drive, personal identifying information, and whether they have any driving violations. Individuals are then offered a choice of what kind of car insurance they would like, and the amount of money they could pay for each of those insurances, which may or may not be cheaper than what they are already paying.

Geico also has claimed itself to be a cheap car insurance company. Their claim is that 15 minutes could save you up to 15 percent on your insurance. One bonus with Geico is that they do provide all the different coverages that are available and that you the consumer should consider having on your policy. I started a quote from them but became frustrated at the amount of information that they required. Some personal information I was allowed to opt out of giving like my phone number and social security number, but others I was not like my occupation and how mighty I am paying for my insurance currently. Geico does not provide coverage in Massachusetts.

Allstate is going a different route in being a cheap car insurance company. Their claim is a safe driving bonus for every 6 months an individual goes without an accident they can get up to 5% of their premium. They can also earn money off of their deductible. Individuals can also receive a quote online.

State Farm can also be considered a cheap car insurance company. They offer to their individuals information such as how much insurance do they need, what affects the price of their insurance, what are coverage and deductible options, and auto insurance discounts. They offer discounts for Multiple Vehicle, Multiple Line, New Vehicle Safety, Accident Free, Anti-Theft Device, Defensive Driving, Good Driving, Pleasurable Student and, Driver Training. Individuals can get a quote online in about 15 minutes.

Nationwide is also a cheap car insurance company, because they claim that you can save up to $500. They offer 100% guarantee on repairs for as long as you own the vehicle. They offer 24/7 claim service. They also offer free On Your Side Reviews to assist you with choosing discounts and coverage that are right for you.

Amica also claims to be a cheap car insurance company. They do not offer much information about their auto insurance online. However, you can complete a quote online.

Esurance offers the most information about cheap car insurance companies. Esurance allows individuals to catch a quote that compares auto insurance rates. This allows the individual to pick the best insurance information for them. Individuals can then buy the policy upright online. Esurance claims that if another company offers a cheaper rate you can purchase the policy.

When you purchase a motor scooter or moped, the first order of business should be to determine how much insurance is required to operate the vehicle. In most states, including New York, mopeds and motor scooters are classified similarly to motorcycles.

They can be ridden on public streets (subject to certain restrictions), and they must be registered and insured. The insurance won’t be as high on a moped as it would on a motorcycle, but you collected need to be able to prove financial responsibility.

Factors that Affect Insurance for Mopeds and Motor Scooters

As soon as you buy a motor scooter or moped (or even before you buy it), contact your insurance agent. Let him or her know the proper make and model of the moped you are buying, and ask for a custom quote. You will need to provide a variety of information, including how the motor scooter will be used.

Preserve in mind that you might not be able to pick up insurance or registration for some types of motor scooters and mopeds. In New York State, for example, the vehicle must be DMV-certified before you can register and insure it, so you’ll want to originate sure you are buying an appropriate machine.

Moped and Motor Scooter Insurance Levels

In most cases, you will only need to purchase liability insurance for your motor scooter or moped. This means that your insurance coverages pays for damages you cause to other people or property. If you want to protect your own property, however, certain types of collision and/or comprehensive coverage may be available for your moped, as well as personal injury protection.

When you finance a motor scooter, your lender might require you to buy more than minimum insurance, increasing the liability requirements as well as collision. This is to protect the lender in case you wreck the moped before you’ve paid off enough of the loan to cover the damages.

Some insurance companies offer specialized packages for motor scooters and mopeds. These packages are designed to cover the calamities that often befall owners of those types of vehicles, and often include varying levels of liability, collision and comprehensive insurance coverage. You can ask your insurance agent if you are able to build a custom package or if you have to buy a pre-defined package.

Save Money on Insurance

When you bewitch insurance for your moped or motor scooter, ask your insurance agent about ways to save money. For example, if you piggyback the policy on top of another policy, will they give you a discount? What if you only ride the vehicle in rural or unpaved areas?

You might want to obtain several insurance quotes before making your decisions. Mopeds and motor scooters require more specialized attention than, for example, a car insurance policy, so it pays to do your research.

Are you a business Owner? Non-owned auto liability insurance coverage is cheap. You should carry this or you risk paying big bucks later if you are sued. It protects you if you ask a friend or an employee to run a quick errand for your business. Perhaps a trip to the post office, the office supply store, or even to pick up lunch for you? Do you have a personal car that you may consume for running business errands, but it is titled to you personally and not insured on a business auto policy? Have you ever borrowed or rented a car?

Non-owned auto insurance is a bargain of a deal! It provides grand coverage for a little mark.

Do you need non-owned auto liability insurance?
If you could answer yes to any of these questions, you may want to consider getting non-owned auto liabilty coverage. Business auto policies usually only cover the vehicles that are actually listed on the policy itself. General liability insurance won’t automatically cover you in these situations either.

What is non-owned auto liability insurance?
Non-owned liability insurance is designed to protect your business if someone else uses their personal car to run business errands for you, or if you borrow or rent a car from someone else.

It is liability coverage, that is, it protects you in case someone is wound in an accident and wants to sue you. It does not provide any physical harm for a car, so if a car is damaged, there is no coverage for harm to the car itself.

Did your employee, or friend, have insurance?
If you are like most people, you presume that your employee, or whomever you asked for help, has their own car insurance when they run an errand for you. Maybe they have insurance, maybe not. Even if they do, do you know how much coverage they have? If you’re like most people, you don’t know and you haven’t asked.

The driver is not covered
The driver should have his or her own car insurance. Non-owned auto insurance isn’t designed to screen a driver who chose to go without car insurance. If the driver works for you, you should have workers compensation, which would conceal them if they were injure in a car.

Acting on behalf of your business
Many courts have decided that a business is liable for the acts of its employees, including using their contain personal car to run errands for the business. Non-owned coverage would provide liability coverage for your business.

Personal auto insurance policies might exclude coverage whenever a car is used for business deliveries or errands. Each policy is different, so if you have an
employee that does deliveries or regularly runs errands for you, be sure to have them check with their insurance agent, too.

How to get non-owned liability insurance
Some companies call it non-owned coverage, others call it hired and non-owned coverage. Regardless, it’s not automatic on insurance policies. It can easily be added to your business auto policy. It’s typically very cheap and inexpensive.

If you don’t have any cars titled to your business, and do not have a business auto insurance policy, this coverage can be added to your general liability insurance policy. It’s usually splendid inexpensive to add to a policy, and can be added to either business auto or general liability insurance coverage.

Call your insurance agent to make sure you have this coverage, or to add it to your policies. It’s an inexpensive way to create sure you’re protected if someone else runs an errand for you and they don’t drive your car.

Gap Insurance is something that most car owners don’t think about. It is however becoming an important allotment of purchasing an automobile.

When the buyer purchases a fresh auto or used auto there is always a disagreement between the Insurance companies idea of what that automobile is worth and what you owe on the loan. Even a new automobile depreciates the minute you drive away from the car lot.

Most Insurance carriers calculate the value of your automobile by the Kelly Blue Book and considerations of any additions to the car and what those add to the value of that automobile. The quandary here lies with the purchaser/owner of that automobile.

If the loan on the auto is for more than the Insurance companies final decision on it’s value then the owner is held responsibility by the lender to pay the balance of that loan. This is where your GAP Insurance comes into play. GAP Insurance pays that difference. You the purchaser/owner is left with no outstanding balance on the auto loan.

The cost of GAP Insurance is actually quite reasonable if you reflect the odds that you may be involved in an auto accident that would make the auto classified as a total loss.

Some of the lending agencies such as Toyota Motor Corp., GMC, US Bank, and many others will offer GAP insurance at the time of engage. If this is not offered then there are several well- known insurance carriers such as Esurance, State Farm, Farmers and many others that offer it included in your auto insurance plan for what is a minimal cost. The price tag on GAP Insurance can be as minute as $10.95 a month depending on what insurance carrier chosen.

If you ever find that you are in this situation and you need to use your GAP Insurance it can be a godsend. If an accident occurs and the auto insurance company deems your car a total loss, contact your GAP Insurance and file the claim per their requirements and let them take over the case. Contact your lender and let them know that you have GAP Insurance on the automobile, give the lender the insurance company name, address and phone number and let the two companies work the issues out between them. Nothing more need be done by the auto owner unless there are complications between the lender and the insurance carrier.

GAP Insurance is clearly peace of mind for a recent or used car owner with a loan on their automobile.
